CLI Ondago documentation

Install the CLI

Get Ondago into your terminal and connect your first computer.

Security starts with installation: the official installers verify release checksums by default. Keep verification enabled. Learn about installation and transfer protections.

Before you start#

The CLI has macOS, Linux, and Windows builds for Intel/AMD 64-bit and ARM64 machines. You need an installed coding agent and an existing session to follow the capture guides. Cloud and cross-device features also need an Ondago account and network access.

The default installer installs the CLI and attempts to install the Desktop app on supported platforms. Linux receives the CLI only.

macOS & Linux#

curl -fsSL https://public.ondago.ai/install.sh | sh

For only the CLI:

curl -fsSL https://public.ondago.ai/install.sh | sh -s -- --cli-only

The default binary location is ~/.local/bin/ondago. Follow the installer’s PATH instructions if that directory is not already on your PATH. For the current shell:

export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"

Add that export to your shell startup file to keep it across terminal sessions. The installer verifies the release checksum before installing.

Windows PowerShell#

irm https://public.ondago.ai/install.ps1 | iex

For only the CLI, set the option before running the installer:

$env:ONDAGO_NO_APP = "1"
irm https://public.ondago.ai/install.ps1 | iex
Remove-Item Env:ONDAGO_NO_APP

The installer updates your user PATH. Open a new PowerShell window if ondago is not found.

Verify and sign in#

ondago version
ondago login
ondago workspaces

Complete the browser sign-in, then follow the terminal’s device-registration prompts using the verification method offered for your account. Select your workspace if you belong to more than one:

ondago config set workspace YOUR_WORKSPACE_SLUG

Replace uppercase placeholders in these guides with your own values. Use ondago workspaces to find the workspace slug.

Find your first session#

cd ~/projects/example-app
ondago detect -plain
ondago

Use your own project directory. detect -plain prints discovered sessions. Running ondago with no command in an interactive terminal opens the keyboard-and-mouse interface: sessions, bundles, devices, account, and config.

Keep the CLI up to date#

ondago update -check
ondago update

The first command checks without installing. The second replaces the CLI with the published release. To install a specific published version, use ondago update -version X.Y.Z. Desktop has a separate release channel.

If a command fails because this version of the CLI is no longer compatible with the Ondago server, the error says so and names the command to update (ondago update).
