Get a second perspective without leaving your current session. A specialized agent reads the conversation and project folder, then posts its answer beside the main agent. It has read-only access. You decide which answers to send to the main agent.
Add a specialized agent#
- Open a connected, running session in Desktop or the Web app.
- Choose Add (the plus beside the agent when there is only one agent) in the session header, then A reviewer to open the specialized-agent form. The main agent icon opens Continue with a different agent directly where supported. Model and permissions stay in the composer’s Session settings. Specialized-agent icons beside it open Agent Collaboration, with a dot while one is answering or when an answer needs your attention.
- Alternatively, open the specialized-agent icons. Before any agents have been added, this menu shows one prominent Add a specialized agent button and a reminder that access is read-only and you decide which answers reach the main agent. Select the button to continue. On phones, these controls open in a sheet.
- Choose a role, give it a name, and add guidance if needed. Expand Extra guidance when needed. A Custom role always shows its required instructions.
- Choose an available coding agent. The default is the session’s agent when available. Choose a Model and Thinking effort, or keep the agent and model defaults. The host preloads model choices; use Refresh to check again. Changing the coding agent resets both selections.
- Choose when it speaks: On request or After each turn. Then select Add a specialized agent to save and return to the session. Closing or cancelling this form also returns to the session.
The host can offer Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI, or OpenCode when installed and configured. The specialized agent uses the access already available on that host. There is no separate account picker.
Updated hosts query Claude Code and Codex for their model lists and per-model effort choices. OpenCode lists models from its configured providers; effort selection is not yet available for specialized agents using OpenCode. Copilot model discovery is not yet connected in this form. When a list loads, choose directly from it. Custom model appears as a fallback when discovery is unavailable or a saved model is absent from the list. If discovery fails, choose Retry or continue with a default or custom model. The desktop modal uses a wider layout, with fields stacked on smaller screens. Older hosts allow default or custom models but need an update before you can choose effort.
Choose a perspective#
| Role | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Reviewer | A second look at the work and possible problems. |
| Adviser | Suggestions and alternatives for the next decision. |
| Security reviewer | A review focused on security concerns. |
| Tester | Test ideas and missing coverage. It does not edit files to implement them. |
| Custom | Your own focused instructions, such as reviewing architecture or documentation. |
Ask from the message box#
Type @ at the start of a message to list the session’s specialized agents, then choose one with Enter or Tab. You can also type the whole name followed by a space, or choose Ask Reviewer (or another agent) from the header button. The message box then shows To Reviewer · not sent to the main agent, and the send button reads Ask Reviewer. Press Backspace at the start of the message, or the remove button on that line, to address the main agent again.
Send with an empty message to ask for a review of the latest work. Specialized agents read text only, so attachments, Send later and the queue stay with the main agent. To send text that starts with @ to the main agent, start it with @@.
Your question appears on your side of the conversation, marked Asked Reviewer, and the answer appears below it with the agent’s name. You can ask a follow-up, dismiss an answer, or retry a failed one. An agent that is still answering takes your next question once it finishes; your draft is kept.
On request or after each turn#
An agent set to After each turn reviews each finished turn of the main agent by itself. When a newer automatic review arrives, the earlier one by the same agent shrinks to one line that you can open again. Choose Pause automatic reviews from the header button to switch every such agent to On request, or change one agent in Manage specialized agents.
Choose what the main agent receives#
Choose Send to main agent on an answer to share it with the main agent. Ondago sends it as a message marked Forwarded from the specialized agent. Nothing is forwarded automatically, including answers produced after each turn.
A specialized agent does not edit the project. The main agent can act on forwarded advice under its own permissions and approval settings, so review an answer before sending it.
Edit or remove an agent#
Choose the specialized-agent icons in the session header, then Manage specialized agents. Use Edit to change the role, name, guidance, coding agent, model, thinking effort, or when it speaks. Adding or editing from this list opens one form at a time; saving or cancelling returns to the list. Use Remove to stop keeping that specialized agent in the session.
